How to Connect Your First Phone
Step-by-step guide to connecting your first Android phone to ShadowPhone Desktop.
What You Need
A computer running Windows 10+, macOS 10.15+, or Linux. An Android phone (Pixel 6 recommended). A USB data cable (not charge-only). ShadowPhone Desktop installed.
Step 1: Enable Developer Options
On your phone, go to Settings > About Phone and tap Build Number 7 times until you see a message confirming Developer Options are enabled.
Step 2: Enable USB Debugging
Go to Settings > System > Developer Options and toggle on USB Debugging. Also enable Stay Awake to prevent the screen from sleeping while connected.
Step 3: Connect via USB
Plug the USB cable into your phone and computer. When prompted on the phone, tap Allow for USB debugging and check Always allow from this computer.
Step 4: Verify in ShadowPhone
Open ShadowPhone Desktop and go to the Phones tab. Your device should appear within a few seconds with a green status indicator. If you see yellow or red, check the troubleshooting guide.
Step 5: Install ADB (if needed)
If this is your first time connecting a phone, ShadowPhone will prompt you to install ADB. Click Install and wait for the process to complete. This is a one-time setup.
