Troubleshooting Phone Disconnections

Fix recurring phone disconnections and maintain stable USB connections.

Common Causes

Phone disconnections are typically caused by: low-quality USB cables, insufficient hub power, Windows USB power saving features, or phone sleep settings.

Cable Issues

Replace your cable with a high-quality USB data cable from a reputable brand (Anker, Cable Matters). Charge-only cables will not work at all. Even data cables degrade over time.

USB Hub Power

If using a USB hub, ensure it is externally powered with enough amperage for all connected devices. A 10-port hub should provide at least 2A per port. Cheap hubs often cannot sustain multiple devices.

Windows Power Settings

Disable USB selective suspend in Windows Power Options. Also disable 'Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power' in Device Manager for each USB root hub.

Phone Settings

Enable Stay Awake in Developer Options. Disable battery optimization for the Instagram app. Set the screen timeout to the maximum value or use the Stay Awake feature.
