Onimator vs ShadowPhone: real-phone Instagram automation
Both drive the real Instagram app on Android phones over ADB. Onimator covers seven apps on any Android device; ShadowPhone covers Instagram on GrapheneOS Pixels with one profile per account.
Onimator is social media automation software that drives a real Android device over ADB from a Windows PC. Its site lists seven supported apps (Instagram, TikTok, Threads, Reddit, Snapchat, Tinder and Bumble) and three places it can run: your own phones, rented cloud phones, or emulators. The details on this page come from onimator.com as published on 13 October 2026; confirm current plans and features there before buying.
ShadowPhone is a desktop app for Windows and macOS that runs Instagram workflows on physical Google Pixel phones (Pixel 6 or newer) running GrapheneOS, connected by USB. It is Instagram-only, and each account lives in its own GrapheneOS user profile.
The two tools share the same basic idea, the native app on a real device instead of a browser profile or an API script. They differ in how many platforms they cover, which phones they accept, how accounts are separated on a phone, and how they charge.
What Onimator is
Onimator ships as two programs under one license: one for Instagram and one for the other six platforms. Its Instagram side lists twelve tools, including follow, unfollow, like, comment, direct messages, story viewing, reel watching, sharing, post scheduling and a warm-up style “human behaviour” mode. Every plan includes every tool; plans differ only by the number of devices, from 3 to 100.
It also exposes an MCP server, so an AI agent such as Claude Code can read and change its settings, and it can write comments, captions and messages through OpenAI with your own API key. Onimator states that its numbers are field guidance, not official platform limits, and that it does not promise follower counts or ban immunity.
Devices: any Android versus GrapheneOS Pixels
Onimator runs on real Android phones, on cloud phones rented in a data centre, and on emulators. Its own guidance ranks real phones as the most trusted, cloud phones close behind, and emulators as the most detectable and best kept for learning and testing. That flexibility means you can start on hardware you already own.
ShadowPhone supports one hardware family: Google Pixel 6 or newer on GrapheneOS. It does not run on emulators, cloud phones or other Android brands. The narrow list is deliberate, because the product is built around GrapheneOS user profiles. The trade-off is that you buy and set up Pixels before you can start; see the list of GrapheneOS supported devices.
Onimator's control software is Windows only. ShadowPhone's desktop app runs on Windows 10 or later and macOS 11 or later.
How accounts are separated on a phone
To hold several accounts on one phone, Onimator points to app cloner packages, which install extra copies of an app inside the same Android system, and it recommends one proxy per account from the first login.
ShadowPhone uses GrapheneOS user profiles instead. Each profile has its own app data and storage, and ShadowPhone switches profile before it opens Instagram for that account. The phone's hardware and its default network path are still shared between profiles, so profile separation does not guarantee that a platform cannot associate accounts.
Platforms and features
This is Onimator's clearest advantage. If you need TikTok, Threads, Reddit, Snapchat or dating apps alongside Instagram, ShadowPhone does not cover them: it is Instagram-only.
Within Instagram, both cover posting feed posts, reels and stories, engagement, direct messages and scheduling. ShadowPhone adds account setup workflows, a local content library that pushes media to the phone on demand, live phone mirroring, a content scraper, and built-in AI image and video generation paid for with plan credits. Onimator adds AI-written text through your own OpenAI key and managed chat personas.
Pricing comparison
Onimator charges per device and allows unlimited accounts. ShadowPhone charges per plan, and each plan sets how many phones, profiles and Instagram accounts you can connect.
| Onimator | ShadowPhone | |
|---|---|---|
| Entry price | From $45/mo for 3 devices | Starter — $97/mo ($77/mo annual) — 1 phone, 5 profiles, 25 accounts |
| How it scales | $15 per device, falling to $6.50 per device at 100 | Growth — $247/mo, 5 phones, 75 accounts. Agency — $497/mo, 10 phones, 500 accounts |
| Account limit | Unlimited accounts | 25, 75 or 500 by plan |
| Platforms | Seven apps | |

On subscription price alone, Onimator is cheaper at every size. Neither price includes the phones, SIMs or proxies, and a simple division ignores setup and operator time, so compare the full cost of the setup you actually plan to run.
When to choose which
Choose ShadowPhone if:
- You run Instagram and nothing else
- You want each account in its own GrapheneOS profile instead of cloned apps
- You work on a Mac, or want built-in AI image and video generation
- You are willing to standardise on Pixel hardware
Onimator may fit better if:
- You need TikTok, Threads, Reddit, Snapchat or dating apps as well as Instagram
- You already own non-Pixel Android phones, or want to use cloud phones
- You want the lowest price per device and no account cap
- You want to drive the tool from an AI agent across every setting

How much does Onimator cost compared with ShadowPhone?

Is ShadowPhone an alternative to Onimator?
For Instagram, yes: both run the native Instagram app on real Android phones. ShadowPhone is the narrower tool. It is Instagram-only and requires Pixel 6 or newer phones on GrapheneOS, and in return it keeps each account in a separate GrapheneOS profile and runs on macOS as well as Windows.
Does Onimator work on Mac?
Onimator describes itself as running from a Windows PC with ADB. ShadowPhone's desktop app supports Windows 10 or later and macOS 11 or later.
Can either tool guarantee an account will not be restricted?
No. Onimator says it does not promise ban immunity, and ShadowPhone does not either. Running the real app on a real device changes the technical setup, but pacing, account history and platform enforcement still decide the outcome.
