USB Connection Guide
Everything you need to know about connecting phones via USB, including hub recommendations and cable selection.
Cable Selection
Always use USB data cables, not charge-only cables. Look for cables labeled 'USB 2.0 data' or 'USB-C to USB-A data cable'. Higher quality cables reduce disconnections. We recommend Anker or Cable Matters brands.
USB Hub Setup
For multiple phones, use a powered USB hub with at least 2A per port. We recommend hubs with individual port switches so you can reset a single connection without affecting others. The Anker 10-Port USB Hub is a popular choice.
Troubleshooting Connections
If a phone is not detected: 1) Try a different cable, 2) Try a different USB port, 3) Revoke USB debugging authorizations in Developer Options and re-authorize, 4) Restart ADB from the Settings menu in ShadowPhone.
Power Management
Connected phones draw power through USB. Make sure your hub can supply enough power for all devices. If phones are draining battery while connected, your hub does not provide enough amperage. Consider a hub with external power supply.
